Khushbuu hai vo to chhuu ke badan ko guzar na jaaye ~ Parvin Shakir

- - - - -
Khushbuu hai vo to chhuu ke badan ko guzar na jaaye
jab tak mere wajuud ke andar utar na jaaye
Khud phuul ne bhii honth kiye apane niim-vaa
chorii tamaam rang kii titalii ke sar na jaaye
is Khauf se vo saath nibhaane ke haq mein hai
khokar mujhe ye ladakii kahiin dukh se mar na jaaye
palkon ko us kii apane dupatte se ponch duun
kal ke safar mein aaj kii gard-e-safar na jaaye
main kis ke haath bhejuun use aaj kii duaa
qaasid havaa sitaaraa koii us ke ghar na jaaye

Dream Hovering in Open Eyes (Khuli Aankh mein Sapna jhaankta hy) Parvin Shakir

Dream is hovering in open eyes,
Whether he is sleeping or sligthly awakening ?
In drenched forests of your likings,
My body dances like a peakfowl.
How can he not get my feelings?
Because he is aware of my all gesturings.
I am in his reaches but
He asks me with my wishes
My heart is alway in his thinkings but
It disarrays my thinkings
Saying
Must walk away from road
Because way to my home is dusty.....

A Poem For my Son (Apnay betay kay liye ek nazm) - Parvin Shakir
- - -

World expected love from me,
In a way if I had to pay its debt!
Coins of my truthfulness
Were trampled in a manner
That if I had not held myself together!
We would have remained shelterless and
devoid of social clothings
I have lived in my house
And paid jiziya all my life
This poem was written by Parvin Shakir for her son Murad

Poem on Rain - Parveen Shakir
- - - -
Paeron ki mehndi mein ny
Kis mushkil say chharaie thi
aur phir bairu khushboo ki
kaisi kaisi binti ki thi
pyari dheeray bol
bhara ghar jag uthay ga
laekin jub us ky aanay ki ghari hoi
subah sy aisi jhari lagi
umer mein pehli barb
arish achhi nahi lagi!
English Translation:
The henna on my feet
I scrubbed it with so difficuilty
And to insolent fragrance
Intensely I had begged
Dear speak lowly
Lest the full house might wake up
But when the time of his arrival came
Since morning the rain set in so fast
First time in my life
Rain did not amuse me!

WHERE AM I? - Parveen Shakir
- - - -
Where am I in your life?
In the morning breeze or the evening star,
hesitant drizzle or sharp rain,
silver moonlight or hot noon,
deep thoughts or casual tunes?
Where am I in your life?
Down from work,
a weekend’s interval on a beach,
or an unintended silken release
between your fingers from serial smoke?
Or a readily replenished,
freshened moment without wine,
or a moment’s leave, anonymous,
between the breaking of one dream of love and another’s beginning?
Where am I in your life?
- English Translation of one Poem of Parvin Shakir from her famous book Inkar (Refusal) -English translation by Alamgir Hashmi

Your Attitude ~~ Parvin Shakir
- - - - - -
Your attitude toward me
has been like
a seasoned diplomat’s toward a young journalist
—every statement heedful of its implications
and possible repercussions,
every word carefully weighed
(the issue lost in the quagmire of quotations).
Nothing that he says should turn out to be
an arrow recoiling on himself
(which he may have to repent).

If he be scent ~ Parvin Shakir
- - - - - -
and pass,
until he be part of my existence.
The flower half-opened its lips,
[So] all stealth of colour may not be
blamed upon the butterfly.
He favours faithfulness out of fear,
That,
losing me,
this girl shall die
of pain.
I shall cleanse his lashes with my shawl
[So] the dust of this day's journey,
may not enter tomorrow's!
Through whom shall I send him today's prayer?
Ambassador, air, star -
None visits his abode!
Parveen Shakir
[This is english translation of Parvin Shakir's poem: Khushbu hai vo to]
Here sleeps the girl - Parvin Shakir

- - - - -
Here sleeps the girl
Whose eyes bought dreams from sleep,
And then the night of rendezvous
She spent with her loneliness.
It was a strange waiting!
Pawning the whole city
To the shylock of fate
Just for the convenience
Of on half-lit casement!
But when the star,
On whose strength
The moon had been challenged,
Was about to appear on her forehead,
Aurora was already up
Tolling the kneil of tryst!

A Poem on Rain - Parveen Shakir
- - - - Barish mein kia tanha beegna ae larki,
usay bulla jis ki chahat mein,
taira tann mann bheega hy ,
pyar ki baarish sy barh kar kia baarish ho gi ,
aur jab is baarish ky baad ,
hijr ki pehli dhoop khilay gi,
tujh per ran ky ism khulaen gy....
taira tann mann bheega hy ,
pyar ki baarish sy barh kar kia baarish ho gi ,
aur jab is baarish ky baad ,
hijr ki pehli dhoop khilay gi,
tujh per ran ky ism khulaen gy....
English Translation:
Why to soak alone in the rain, O Girl!
Beckon him in whose love
Your mind and body are drenched
There is no rain more than the rain of lvoe
And when after this rain
The first sunshine of separation w0uld glow
The mysteries of hues would you know...

Gulabi Phool (Pink Flowers) - Parvin Shakir

English Translation:
Pink Flowers....
In the season of our meeting
I felt pink flowers
blooming in my heart
the wounds of my heart
though healed long ago
the buds are blooming now
you are caring for me again
how long could the
pillars hold the house
shaken in its foundations
the old strangeness had
prevailed as if we
would never meet again
my boy still wanted you though
my feet were covered with bruises.....

Bichra hy jo aik baar .... Parvin Shakir

bichhra hay jo aik baar tou miltay nahi dekha
is zakham ko hum nay kabhi siltay nahi dekha
ik baar jisay chaat gai dhoop ki khawish
phir shakh pay us phool ko khiltay nahi dekha
yak lakht gira hay tou jarain tak nikal aai
jis pair ko aandhi main bhi hiltay nahi dekha
kanton main ghiray phool ko choat aaigi lakin
tatli kay paron ko kabhi chubtay nahi dekha
kis tarah meri rooh hari kargaya aakhri
wo zahar jissay jism main khiltay nahi dekha...
ik baar jisay chaat gai dhoop ki khawish
phir shakh pay us phool ko khiltay nahi dekha
yak lakht gira hay tou jarain tak nikal aai
jis pair ko aandhi main bhi hiltay nahi dekha
kanton main ghiray phool ko choat aaigi lakin
tatli kay paron ko kabhi chubtay nahi dekha
kis tarah meri rooh hari kargaya aakhri

Teri khushboo ka pata kerti hai...
teri khushboo ka pata kerti hai mujhpe ehsaan hawa kerti hai
shab ki tanhai mein ab to akser
guftugoo tujhse raha kerti hai
dil ko us rah per chalna he nahin
jo mujhe tujhse juda kerti hai
zindagi meri thi laikin ab to
tere kehne mein raha kerti hai
usne dekha he nahin warna yeh aankh
dil ka ehwaal kaha kerti hai
beniyaaz-e-kaaf-e-dariyaa angusht
rait per naam likha kerti hai
shaam pertay he kisi shakhs ki yaad
koocha-e-jaan mein sada kerti hai
mujhse bhi uska hai waisa he salook
haal jo tera ana ? karti hai
dukh hoa kerta hai kuchh aur bayan
baat kuchh aur hoa kerti hai
abr barase to inayat uski
shaakh to sirf dua kerti hai
masla jab bhi utha chiraghoon ka
faisla sirf hawa kia kerti hai
